ATA Songahm Taekwondo
The American Taekwondo Association (ATA) is a Korean Taekwondo organization that was established in 1969 and started in Omaha, Nebraska. After 55 years, the ATA has grown to become one of the world’s largest organizations with schools spanning across the globe. What makes Songahm taekwondo different than any other martial art out there isn’t the kicking and punching or self-defense skills, but the life skills our certified instructors instill in our students.
Core Martial Arts Instructor
Ms. Latherow is a 4th degree certified ATA black belt instructor and owner of Core Martial arts. She has been training for over 20 years and teaching for over 10. Taekwondo is one of her greatest passions in life and she’s excited to bring her experience and knowledge to the Oro Valley and Tucson areas.
She is a 13x World Champion competitor, 2x All 8 events State Champ, 2x 5 event Southwest District Champ, Regional Tournament Team Assistant for Arizona, and has started a taekwondo program alongside More Than a Bed for many of Tucson’s foster, kinship and adoptive families. As of 2025, she’s the ATA Arizona Special Olympics Demo Team Director as well. One of the pillars of her school is servant leadership and she leads by example of volunteering her time for organizations like Wishing for Mommy, the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA), More Than a Bed, and many others.
